Diese große Muschel schmeckt nicht nur gut, sie bringt auch sehr prächtig skulpturierte, farbige Gehäuseschalen hervor. Eine verwandte Art ist die Pilgermuschel unserer Breiten - Pecten jacobaeus vom Ost-Atlantik und Mittelmeer.
